The most daunting question, whether you’re in a relationship or not is…What should we get to eat??. The age old phrase that can bring anxiety near and far ESPECIALLY if you’re in a place that isn’t your home town. So I’m here to ease that and help you find the best places to eat in Mammoth Lakes, CA!
I don’t know about you but I am such a foodie so this one sits very close to my heart. Who am I? Oh hey, I’m Kayla, and after spending 20+ years in the Sierra Nevada, I’ve definitely eaten my way through this town so you don’t have to guess on what’s good or not.
Whether you’re looking for a good cup of coffee and the best breakfast burrito to kick start your wedding day or a super romantic dinner spot for after you say I-Do, I got you covered boo. Below you’ll find a list of the best places to eat that Mammoth Lakes has to offer you.

COFFEE AND BREAKFAST
Coffee: (if you’re a coffee drinker like myself, then you know why this gets its own section)
- Looney Bean: A local favorite. They have a wide selection of coffees and teas, often changing out their menus seasonally. There are also great pastry and gluten-free pastry options! Not to mention very reasonably priced.
- Black Velvet: A little on the pricey side in my opinion but their coffee is roasted in house and is very tasty. They also have great loose leaf teas.
- Stellar Brew: Another local favorite. Lots of healthier food options that are quick grab and go. As for the coffee, it’s decent but not top of the list.
- Mammoth Roasting Co.: Honestly not my favorite coffee but the donuts are killlerrrr.
Breakfast
Breakfast Burritos (because duh this needs it’s own section)
- Looney Bean: THE best grab and go breakfast burritos. They come in bacon or soyrizo, premade but oh so delicious. Not to mention they are the most reasonably priced for the size!
- Stellar Brew: Another good option as they are very tasty but in my opinion overpriced for the amount you get. They have some grab and go options or custom order options. Choices of turkey, chicken, bacon, tri-tip or tempeh.
- Salsa’s: The ultimate Mexican breakfast burrito. You have a choice of chorizo, ham, steak, sausage, bacon or A La Mexicana (veggie). They all come with tater tots inside too which is a fun addition.
- Rolling Chef 395: They have a unique latin fusion twist on breakfast burritos with some options including chiliquilas.
- Latin Market: Another great small Mexican market that offers yummy egg and bacon breakfast burritos.
Sit Down Breakfast
- Warming Hut: In my personal opinion, the best breakfast in town! From chicken and waffles to an eggs benedict hash, they have it all.
- The Stove: An awesome classic diner breakfast spot, they will have all your favorite classics.
- Mammoth Roasting: Lots of delicious breakfast sandwich options and more!
- Schatts: If you’re looking for some pastries, Schatts has the biggest selection in town!
- Stellar Brew: Lots of breakfast options including smoothie bowls! Definitely on the healthier side.

LUNCH AND DINNER
Casual Lunch and Dinner Options
- Elixir: Probably our healthiest option in town. Lots of healthy bowls, smoothies and juices with a lot of organic ingredients!
- Mammoth Brewing: This place gets packed on the weekends but also has a huge outdoor patio area that is dog friendly! They have delicious beers, their house made root beer is amazing and their american style food is delicious.
- Warming Hut: Here they serve three meals a day, and their options make you feel so cozy with home styled food.
- Mammoth Tavern: Opening at 4:30 PM this place has KILLER mac n cheese, sticky ribs and fondue for the whole table!
- Shelter Distilling: Commonly known for their locally made craft spirits, don’t miss out on their sneakily good hand rolls, cheese curds or pork belly tacos (to name only a few!).
- Gomez’s: Located next door to Shelter, you’ll find that this place serves margaritas bigger than your head (literally) and the largest variety of tacos anyone could ask for! Get the salmon tacos if you like fish, you can’t beat the taste!
- Noodle-ly: If you like pho and ramen, this is the best place to find it! They also have bobba and a variety of appetizers.
- Rolling Chef 395: Easily one of my favorite places to eat in Mammoth with their latin fusion food truck! The fish burrito here is to die for, but watch out, their salsas all have a good kick!
- Gomez’s: If you’re looking for some good Mexican food at a sit down restaurant, Gomez’s is your place! They also have Margaritas the size of your head or bigger. So if you’re a Marg lover, this has your name written all over it.
- Harmony, Brazilian BBQ: This place is a little on the nicer side, but not as fancy or romantic as a lot of the other “nice restaurants” listed below. But if you love perfectly cooked meats of all kind, you cannot pass up their all-you-can-eat menu! With unlimited access to the amazing salad bar, this place is top tier for their meats and roasted pineapple!
- Dos Alas: Authentic Cuban food like you’ve never tasted! The Cubano sandwich is my absolute favorite here! And not to mention they easily have the best views in Mammoth. But note *they are only open for dinner* starting at 5:00 PM
- The Mammoth Butcher: Despite the name, this shop has delicious sandwiches! Yes, they do have an incredible selection of seafood and meats but the hand made sandwiches are amazing. The prices are a little steep for what you get though.
- Giovanni’s: There are quite a few pizza places in town but Giovanni’s has many options and fantastic gluten free options as well!
- Mammoth Pizza Co: My personal favorite pizza place in town with huge thin slices. You can buy individual slices or whole pizzas.
Romantic Dinners
- Convict Lake Resort: Located right next to Convict Lake, this romantic restaurant offers cozy vibes and no cell service which definitely adds to the romance! From cozy booths to a roaring fireplace in the center, make sure you make reservations! There is a bar area that serves more casual bites so make sure you make a reservation for the main dinning area.
- Morrisons: A personal favorite in town, it has the classic steak house vibes. Dim lighting and delicious cocktails to awesome steaks, seafood and pastas, they’ve got it all.
- Mammoth Rock Brasserie: Even though it’s located above the bowling alley, the food here is elevated and classy. They have everything from duck confit to vegetable wellington, including elk and salmon!
- Skadi: Easily my all time favorite place in town. Make sure you call for a reservation as this is an intimate dinning experience and seats go quick. The chef is Norwegian and curates a very intriguing and custom menu. The interior is inspired by the Scandinavian art and architecture and is incredibly romantic. Pro Tip: get a little glass of wine at The Shed before heading over!
- Lake Front: If you’re looking for cozy, log cabin vibes with delicious French-Californian cuisine. Their menu rotates seasonally with the locally sourced produce. They often have live musicians that play in their cocktail bar, making the vibes immaculate.
- Vulcania: One of the newest restaurants in town, it has a very modern and clean aesthetic with delicious Italian cuisine. It’s one of our only restaurants in town that offers “snowglobe” seating on the outdoor patio during the winter. You will need to make a reservation for these!
- Ursa: Coffee shop by day, boutique fine dining restaurant by night! Located in Mammoth Coffee Co, this restaurant offers seasonal locally sourced foods that will literally blow your mind. Pair your delicious meals with one of their delicious organic wines and you won’t be sorry!

Small Bites/Beverages
- The Shed: A very small wine and charcuterie bar located next to Schatt’s offers a variety of meats, cheeses, and delicious wines! Perfect place for a little pre dinner glass of wine if you’re feeling fancy!
- Shelter Distilling: Located in the village, Shelter offers a wide variety of house made spirits and craft cocktails. But don’t underestimate the food here! From small bites like cheese curds and poblano peppers to full on meals like sushi hand rolls and tacos, their food is delicious!
- Distant Brewing: If you are into locally made beer, pool, and live music, Distant is your place! With a huge selection of craft beers on tap, this is the locals choice to grab a drink and chill!
- Bevi Bene: An adorable little wine bar right across the hall from Mammoth Tavern, they serve a wide selection of wines by the glass or bottle. With great views of the mountain and limited seating, this is the best place to enjoy a nice glass of wine.
- Local Scoop (THE best ice cream in both Mammoth and June Lake): Small batch ice cream made from local dairy farms in Nevada, trust me when I say you’ve never tasted better ice cream than this!
Private Chef’s
These are a great option if you are wanting to have something a little more intimate! If you don’t want to mess with the stress of having to go out to eat then I highly recommend one of our many private chefs in Mammoth!

DIY
Another great option is doing a little romantic cooking with you and your partner at your air bnb! Some couple’s love to cook together and it is a great way to end (or begin) your wedding day.
